EU-Track attended the 14th Scientix Projects' Networking Event: "
Research into the classroom" presenting our work with students "
Research-based Learning and Tinkering to improve student engagement and understanding".
The event, co-organised by Scientix, GFOSS –Open Technologies Alliance, Jet Propulsion Theatre, EDU-ARCTIC and ERIS, brought together project and organisation representatives activating in STEM education to discuss these concerns and explore best practices in bringing research into the classroom.
The aims were:
- To share successful experiences and initiatives of bringing research into the classroom.
- To discuss the importance of science outreach programmes in dispelling negative stereotypes associated with science and research.
- To define a set of recommendations of follow up actions on bridging research and classroom practice.
The organisers collected ideas, comments and general conclusions agreed between participants during the workshop.
The results of the discussion will be published in a Scientix Observatory article co-authored by all participants.
